Personally, I’m quite happy that Facebook is actually doing something that concerns user security, despite it being quite late come to think about it. Still, better to have something than nothing. ...

Sophos Labs: Repeat after me: It’s “Facebook”, not “FaceBook”. Learn that lesson and it can be one of the tricks you can use to protect yourself against a spammed-out malware campaign, which tries to trick you into believing that Facebook support has changed your password. Computer users are receiving emails claiming that the popular social network has automatically changed their password to secure their account. Here’s a typical message: ...

SophosLabs: Criminals and scammers on Facebook aren’t resting on their laurels
in fact, they are branching out and using multiple techniques all rolled into one scam. Tonight’s blockbuster spam is taking on several guises. One version is a likejacking attack that spams your wall with the message “Dad walks in on daughter
EMBARRASING!!!” and “This really has to be an awkward moment.” They seem to be quickly rotating through a long list of Google (goo.gl) short URLs to evade detection. ...

Symantec Connect: Not only Facebook is adding new and interesting features to its toolbox; spammers and scammers in Facebook are, too. Currently there is a scam making rounds using a classic “who is viewing your profile” themed bait. So far – nothing new. After the user grants the application the requested privileges, which of course will send out the above mentioned spam posts to all his or her friends, the user gets redirected to a download instruction site. There he or she is asked to download the Firefox browser and then install a popular Firefox extension which allegedly gets downloaded over 27,000 times per week. This simple tweak should generate a new menu entry in Facebook which would then show user statistics. ...

Examiner.com wrote: As many people are aware, bullying today is not like it used to be. Back in the day, all one had to do to turn his bully in was give the name of the person who bothered him to a trusted adult. Today, it is not that easy. Bullying doesn’t end at the school bell. It follows students from the blacktop to their cell phones to their computer screens. Many times, these “cyber bullies” create fake online profiles which allow them to bully anonymously. Kids in turn learn to fear school instead of perceiving it as a place of safety. Consider these staggering statistics- One third of middle school and high school students report being bullied during the school year. Almost 3 million students have said they were pushed, shoved, tripped and even spit on. Those are only the reported incidents of bullying.
